Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pediatric eye examinations using advanced diagnostic tools to accurately assess vision and ocular health in children.
  • Diagnose and manage a variety of pediatric eye conditions, including refractive errors, binocular vision anomalies, and ocular disease, ensuring tailored treatment plans aligned with the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Provide patient-centered care by educating children and their caregivers on eye health, vision development, and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including pediatricians and ophthalmologists, to coordinate comprehensive care plans and referrals.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate clinical records for each patient, adhering to professional and legal standards, to enable continuity of care and quality reporting.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution, with current licensure to practice optometry in Canada.
  • Certification or specialized training in pediatric optometry is highly preferred, demonstrating a commitment to expertise in the care of children.
  • Proven experience in pediatric eye care, preferably with at least 2 years working in pediatric optometry jobs or a related clinical setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in pediatric eye examinations, clinical diagnostics, and patient management tailored to children.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential for interacting effectively with young patients, families, and healthcare team members.
