As an Ironworker Apprentice, you will embark on an exciting learning journey where practical experience and classroom knowledge meet, preparing you for a successful trade career with ample advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Assist ironworkers with rigging, erection, and installation of steel frameworks and structures under supervision.
- Follow strict safety policies to maintain a compliant and hazard-free work environment on all job sites.
- Handle and organize materials, tools, and equipment efficiently to support tradespeople during construction phases.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to iron and steel frameworks.
- Participate in on-the-job training sessions and take direction to develop skilled techniques in welding, bolting, and anchoring.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; completion of foundational apprenticeship training preferred.
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and comfortable with following detailed instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety compliance, with awareness of workplace hazards and personal protective equipment guidelines.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
- Good teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with journeymen, supervisors, and other apprentices.
Additional desired qualities include a proactive attitude towards on-the-job learning, reliable work attendance, and a positive approach to building trade certifications over time.
