Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records as the remote bookkeeper for multiple clients employing Canadian accounting best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure records align with accounting software data.
  • Utilize platforms such as QuickBooks and Xero to manage invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Track and categorize financial transactions efficiently while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate remotely with clients and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and improve bookkeeping processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, supporting audit preparations when necessary.

Qualifications

To succeed as our Remote Bookkeeper, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably within Canadian business contexts.
  • Proficiency with major accounting software like QuickBooks and Xero.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Understanding of Canadian accounting standards, payroll, and tax regulations.

Additional preferred qualifications include an accounting diploma or degree, bookkeeping certification (such as a CPA or CB), and experience working in a remote capacity with distributed teams.
