Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and fit custom ocular prostheses according to individual patient needs as the primary ocularist.
- Perform detailed assessments and measurements to ensure optimal prosthetic fit and comfort for each patient.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of all prosthetic fittings and patient consultations.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Utilize precision craftsmanship and CAD software tools to enhance prosthetic design and functionality.
- Educate patients on proper care and maintenance of their ocular prostheses to improve long-term outcomes.
- Adhere to all applicable Canadian health and safety standards throughout the fabrication and fitting process.
Required Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in ocularistry or a related prosthetic field recognized within Canadian professional standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in prosthetic eye fitting and fabrication with a solid understanding of ocular prosthetics.
- Skillful knowledge of material sciences relevant to ocular prostheses, including biocompatible substances and finishing techniques.
- Experience working with CAD software to support precision in prosthetic design is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and guide patients compassionately and clearly.
- Commitment to patient-centric care and exceptional attention to detail as expected for an ocularist job.
- Ability to maintain meticulous records and comply with Canadian workplace regulations and healthcare standards.
- Previous experience in a clinical or specialized prosthetic environment is preferred.
